Honestly, if I see one more gosh darn perfectly furnished country cottage off somewhere in the pristine rolling hills of Australia, where the sun is always a joyous shade of mustard yellow and everything is as cute as a baby koola, and the air smells cleaner while the milk tastes fresher because the cows graze endlessly the way the half gallon illustrations make you think they do each and every day even though we know the truth (they graze on poop people) then really, I am just going to have to jump off a bridge. Why? Well, because I want that dream French country house where the air is clean and the grass is soft under my feet and my house is decked out in linen and burlap and organic cotton and my newborn baby coos the sweetest sounds that fills the house with what any new mother claims to be music while my lavender chiffon cake fills the house with enviable aromas and my GQ model husband is outside chopping wood for our preserved colonial fireplace, but not before he rubs my aching feet of course, and then I go soak in my claw foot tub pretending to be the modern day Marie Antoinette. Ah hell, for now I will just settle for my generic Ikea sale items and my polluted air and my chemically watered grass, because at least miss fancy pants posted this amazing DIY that will add just a touch of magic to what otherwise is a completely lackluster and boring kitchen countertop. But that's the thing you know, a magical place like the perfect magazine homes is really just like a ball of yarn, and you can only get it by rolling it up slowly over time. I complain liberally, but we'll all get there soon. Don't rush the yarn, mmkay!

I can relate to the whole French country house/Marie Antoinette dream...oh well, one day! :) Nice jars will have to do for now.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty much exactly how I feel when I read Australian Country Style magazine. And I grew up in the country so I know what it is really like! But that doesn't stop my daydreams...
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute tutorial, I'd love to try this with some of my jar collection!
This is soooo precious! I wonder how she got the lettering on the jars. As for the banana pudding parfaits, I was going to make this recipe: http://www.marthastewart.com/314291/banana-pudding-parfaits
