a fairy tea princess...

Nov 16, 2010

Once upon a time, in a far away land (called New York City) a bright-eyed girl was born. The minute the torturous twenty hour labor was over, she emerged...the center of attention among her whole family there that day...and what do you think she said? Well duh guys, she couldn't speak, she was a newborn! But legend has it she cooed the words "i love cupcakes". (It could have been "goo goo gaga" but work with me here!) And so, just as her African ancestors before her, she went on to live out her purpose in life just as she uttered it that fateful day. There would be EasyBake Oven disasters, and FoodNetwork binges thanks to Nigella, and even birthday parties she would pretend were meant to be catered by her (and she was often kicked out of said parties, passing the real caterers on the way out). But nothing would come close to a day she heard the news not too long ago, that her own mother was spiraling down a drain of melodramatic midlife crisis as well; wondering what to do with her life. One day whilst doing her daily errands and commute, she came across an article about tea, and as if the light bulb had just been invented in her head, so did an idea flash in her head like an illumination. Why not start a tea business!? She was utterly dissatisfied with her job as a saleswoman, just as her own daughter, the cupcake-loving entrepreneurial princess, was in utter agony with her own life status or lack thereof. So one night over tea, the mother and daughter came together to chat about the idea, both completely stunned that they had so much in common after years of strained relationship distancing. The mother- a natural health freak...the daughter a baking fanatic. By the time the tea in their cups ran dry, one idea sang louder than all others- a tea party business would be the glue that would bring the family back together. Not a second later did the girl call her grandmother to spill the news. The night went on forever, the ideas were endless, the bond growing stronger. The girl knew, once and for all, that this would be the moment that would change her life, the moment she waited for in her dreams was now here, and it was time to awake...

That was my big news! Since that day, its been nonstop chatting with my family on names, menu ideas, even launching our own table decor line! I just hope this happens for my granny's sake as I mentioned in this post. What do you dolls think? Will you help me with ideas...because there will be many business planning posts coming at ya!

I don't know what the tea situation is in NYC, but I love love love tea, being quite typically British. I can't wait to read more of your planning!

And I love how you wrote the first part x
